Should You Replace Your Brake Pads All At Once?

Ultimately, your decision can depend on other components within your brakes' system. For a performance-oriented vehicle like the Dodge Charger, knowing when and how to service each part makes a huge difference in safety and control.

Knowing Each Brake Part and When to Change Them

1. Brake Pads

Brake pads should typically be replaced every 30,000 to 70,000 miles or sooner if you hear squeaking, feel grinding, or notice reduced stopping power.

2. Brake Rotors

Rotors should be inspected for warping or grooves and often replaced every second brake pad change or if you feel pulsing during braking.

3. Brake Calipers

These hydraulic components should be replaced if they seize, leak fluid, or apply uneven pressure, often around the 100,000-mile mark.

4. Brake Lines

Flexible brake hoses and steel lines should be checked regularly for cracks or leaks and replaced immediately if damaged.

5. Brake Fluid

Brake fluid should be flushed and replaced every 2 years to maintain hydraulic efficiency and prevent moisture buildup.

6. Brake Hardware

Supporting clips, pins, and shims can wear out and cause noise or uneven wear—inspect and replace these during each brake service.

7. Wheels and Brake Fitment

Don’t overlook how your wheels affect brake cooling and clearance—consider upgrading to factory-fit wheels that support proper brake airflow and clearance.
